The Fall semester is already in full swing and we are busy working on verification processing, loan processing, and generally trying to play catch up from the rush of Fall Registration.
I know that many of you will have questions about when your refund checks will be going out and what the amounts of these refunds will be. I will give you the best general knowledge that we have, but please bear in mind that every student is different, and your account may not be the same as another student.
The disbursement date was September 7th. This means that the financial aid funds were applied to student accounts yesterday. The process actually ran last night, and is continuing to run. It should be completed by this evening. **Only students who have a file complete date and have accepted awards on their award letter, will have funds transferred to their accounts.**
If your student loans have not been applied to your account, please verify that you have completed entrance loan counseling and a Master Promissory Note with Direct Loans. You can complete both of these at http://studentloans.gov
**If you have had loans in previous semesters and completed an MPN with a private lender, you will still need to complete a new MPN with Direct Loans.**
These funds have been applied to student account in the Business Office and they will now begin processing refunds. Once the funds reach a student's account, they have 10 business days to issue a refund. If you have Direct Deposit these funds will be sent directly to your bank when refund checks go out, if you do not have Direct Deposit, they will be mailed to your address on file.
I hope this answers your questions regarding the disbursement date and refunds, if not, please leave a comment and I will answer asap.
Thanks for reading!
i have a question when i was on bookstore my student loans was on there and then the next day i look and just the pell grant was on there my pell grant has tranfer to my account but my loan havent this is my third samaster her. did i do something wrong and another thing one of my classes started on 8/16/2010 in online and then one started to day 9/8/2010 and then my next two class dont started in to 9/21/2010 and was wondering do that have something to do with my student loans.can you please help me if you thank you
ReplyDeleteThe process that transfers money to student accounts runs one process at a time, as of this afternoon, the Pell Grant has already moved over, but the loans have not. To ensure that your loans have been certified and will move over, please contact our office at 864-250-8128.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment!
What's the latest date that the direct deposit will run? All my information has been completed, and this is my 3rd semester here. I signed the loan stuff a while back.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
Like the above student, my pell grant is in my account. However, my loans do not show up in my bookstore. I was wondering if it is because I've missed a step this time. This is my third semester and I'm a little lost with the new loan. I haven't recieved any information on my loan at all, which is a bit strange to me. Maybe it's because I was late getting my file completed? Thanks for your time.
ReplyDeleteSo does this mean that the refunds will start going out on the 18th?
ReplyDeleteI know that we have to sign a new MPN with direct loans, but it was my understanding that we did not have to complete entrance loan counseling again.. is that correct? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteQuick question.... my pell grant overage showed up yesterday after it paid my account balance. This morning, my student loans have shown up but the overage I had from my pell grant is gone. Is this normal? I wasnt sure if it took a few days for everything to complete or if we just dont get a refund on the overage from the pell grant. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteRefund checks will begin to go out on September 17th. The Business Office processes refund every Friday until the end of the semester.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment!
You do not have to complete a new session of Entrance Loan Counseling, as long as you have completed one for Greenville Tech in the past. You are correct!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your question.
You will get an overage check back from your Pell Grant. The student loans are still being applied to student accounts, so it will take some time to get everything settled. But once it is all complete, your overage check will be a combination of your overage from Pell, as well as your student loans.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment!
i looked under my student account and there is 0.00 by refund, does that mean that im not getting one, i was positive that i had more than enough money?!!!??
ReplyDeleteIf you should have a refund and there is not one showing, you may wish to contact our office. There may be an additional step you will need to take before your loans can be processed. Please contact us at 864-250-8128.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment!
thanks :)
ReplyDeleteHas lottery tuition been posted yet? I was approved but it is not showing up yet. I was making sure that it has not been posted to other students accounts as of 9:00 AM on 9/9/2010 because it is not showing on mine.
ReplyDeleteI want to know how do you find out how much you will be getting back on the refund check?
ReplyDeleteWow, I am BEYOND confused about this entire financial aid process. As of right now, my Account Summary is showing that my refund is ONLY the amount of my student loans. I know that I had quite a bit of Pell Grant money left over after tuition & books, and I also received a Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant for the 2010/2011 year. Where is this money? Why isn't it showing up in my refund? I know all of the other semesters I've attended at GTC, I've received a refund of the unused portion of my Pell Grant.
ReplyDeleteIf refund checks go out on Sept. 17th, and the business office processes refunds on Fridays, do direct deposits go out this Friday, Sept. 10th?
ReplyDeleteOkay, my question is this: IF all your monies have shown up previously does that mean that you are getting them all & some just have moved to a different area? Because I looked the other day and everything was showing (refund from Pell and loans), however, I just looked and it is only showing Pell and no loans. Should I be worried? Or does that just mean that they are in processing.
ReplyDeleteHi,this is my first semester @Greenville Tech so I was a little confused on the steps I had to take to receive loans.Once I received my award letter I was told I had to sign a MPN. I signed the MPN back in August but I just realized I had to go through Loan counseling yesterday. So I completed the Loan counseling, will that affect me being able to get the loans now? Or does it just mean it will be delayed? Thanks!
ReplyDeletehow do i find out exactly how much I will be receiving back? i looked under account summary and i honestly can't tell one thing from another but where it says refunds, i dont think i should be getting quite that large of an amount back.
ReplyDeleteI noticed when I looked at my account summary I had a negative balance in Amount currently owed and a 0 in refund. Does this mean I will not be getting a refund or the negative balance hasn't been moved over yet?
ReplyDeletethanks
Hi,
ReplyDeleteSo if we are showing a refund as of today (9/9), should that be included in refunds that go out next week on the 17?
Thanks!
My account summary states the amount I currently owe is a negative amount. Is that my refund or is the amount in the 'refund' line the actual amount I will get back. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHas lottery tuition being posted to students accounts yet? I am not showing lottery tuition yet.
ReplyDeleteI recently put new direct deposit information in late August. I read about the 0.00 posting to your account during the test run ,and I wanted to know how soon should that be done? Just wanted to make sure that my refund will be deposited.
ReplyDeleteI cecked my account earlier and the total amount due was 2,352.14-(which i dont understand) I decieded to check it a minute a go and now its 571.41-, what does this mean? do I owe the school and wont be recieving a refund, my book voucher was 1500 and i didnt even spend 500 of it....please help!!!!
ReplyDeleteFirst, thank you for the info. I am a current student and I saw in your blog that I needed to sign another MPN. I literally just did that. My account shows a negative balance where it says "Total Amount Currently Due".
ReplyDeleteWhat's the next step?
if i have direct deposit will my refund go into the bank on friday Sept 17 or Thursday Sept 16?
ReplyDeleteI have been waiting for mine to show up since January 2010...
ReplyDeleteYesterday my account showed two different amounts owing as a refund (at different times during the day). Today I looked at it, and it now shows $0.00 as my refund. What does this mean? I was approved for my direct loan, and even received an e-mail from the student loans website stating that I would be receiving my loan amount. I'm so confused! Help!
ReplyDeleteI checked my account summary yesterday, the 8th and I saw how much my refund will be, but today when I checked it says 0.00. Can you tell me what this means? Also, I signed up for direct deposit today, am I to late to get it deposited for this semester? Thank You.
ReplyDeleteDoes the checks go out in alphabetical order or does it depend on something else like direct deposit or the time it was received?
ReplyDeleteA little confused my overage was showing wed 9/8/10 now 9/9/10 nothing is showing..Should I be worried?
ReplyDeleteI took out the ubsub loan and declined the subdidized loan but latter realized I needed both will my loans still come together and around the Sept 17. I just came in this week to sign for the other loan.
ReplyDeleteQuestion, where are you'll finding the information showing this money is in your account? My book voucher only showed pell grant never loans. Now it shows nothing, but my account balance shows zero.. Under financial aid by term it shows it all accepted. So how do you know if it has posted yet or not.
ReplyDeleteI have a few questions. I was a late reg. meaning i had to pay the 50 dollars because my classes kept being purged. I went up to fin aid and worked everything out, the lady said it would take a few weeks for my award letter to arrive. it's been about 2-3 weeks, and the checks go out on the 17th, but i haven't gotten my award letter yet, what should i do?
ReplyDeletewhy does GTC have to wait so long to receive a refund check compared to other colleges. Is there not a way to speed this process for those of us who want to use grants, scholarships, and loans to pay for housing.
ReplyDeleteQuestion....On my award letter I received a loan and a pell grant but my loan paid for my tuition and my books and my pell grant was not needed to pay for anything. I was wondering if i would get my entire pell grant back as a refund???? Thanks for the help.
ReplyDeleteWill any checks be sent out on Sept 10, 2010?
ReplyDeleteIf my account summary (Web Advisor) shows a refunded amount and my bank account does not show any deposits should I be worried or should I expect to see a deposit on September 17.
ReplyDeleteMy account showed a refund yesterday, but it doesn't today. Does this mean something is wrong with my account?
ReplyDeleteMy loans haven't shown up but I realized it was becuase i hadn't done my entrance loan counseling and signed by MPN. I've done those things electronically...now how long will it take for my loan funds to post to my account?
ReplyDeleteHelp! Where do I look to see what I have coming? I am at Campus cruiser under web advisor financial aid account summary. It shows no overages. Does that mean I don't have loan money coming? I thought I completed everything I needed to get my loans processed. I have already been by the Financial Aid office once!
ReplyDeleteIf I have direct deposit will my overage be in my account within 10 days of it showing in my student account summary? So it should be in my bank account by the 18th right? Thanks
ReplyDeleteI have been in the verification process back and forth since May. I turned in my final financial aid documents on 8/6/2010 and they told me that the longest it would take was 3-4 weeks to complete the paperwork. It is now over that period of time and everytime I call the office says that everything is on file but they can't give me a time frame of when it will be completed. I don't show any financial aid and I am concerned. How long should it take before I actually receive an award letter?
ReplyDeleteYesterday I looked at my account and it said that I owed a negative amount. Today I looked at it and the amount changed, still negative but a lot smaller. I know the amount is the amount I will get refunded. I was just wondering why the drastic difference. I usually get my full amount of my loan so that it affords me to work only part time while I am in school. Thank you for your blog. It is very helpful.
ReplyDeleteI heard from a certain source that our refund disbursement date was being pushed back to September 27th. Please tell me this isn't the case.
ReplyDeleteI notice that I was showing a small overage a few days ago, which would have been the pell grant, but now it is 0.00. Seems like others are having that same issue. Also, I was wondering why the loan money was not showing up under my account. I did get a letter from direct loans. I did check to see if I had signed a MPN and entrance loan counseling; I thought I had, but I completed both of those yesterday. Will that make a difference in when my funds are processed? And does the zero balance mean that the grant money is being processed now?
ReplyDeleteI was supposed to receive the Laurel Scholarship but my award letter just says the Pell Grant and Life Scholarship. How do I fix that? I already went to the office and asked to put it on there and they were supposed to.
ReplyDeletewill our refund be one check or a check from each lender?
ReplyDeleteHi, I have a problem. I recently signed the MPN on the StudentLoans.gov site, and realized thyat it wasn't the Direct Loans MPN. When I finally get to the actual DirectLoans.gov site (which seemed a little hard to find), I got a page telling me that I don't have an account with them. That's impossible because I have already received a disclosure statement from Direct Loans in the mail. I'm very confused.
ReplyDeleteIf you have signed up for direct deposit, when will money go into checking and savings accounts?
ReplyDeletehey i have a question if i just signed a MPN as of friday and my account summary say balance 0 does this mean my refund will be late or not sent out on the 17 i talk to someone in finacial aid office and they told me that everything was process they was waiting on me to do the MPN and thats when i did
ReplyDeleteSO, if the business office processes the refunds on fridays, and the first checks sent out should be starting this friday, does that mean that direct deposit would be sent out on friday to the bank, so it wont show up til later... or does that mean that if we have direct deposit, the dir dep will show up on friday? thanks
ReplyDeleteWill direct deposits be made on Sept. 17th also.
ReplyDeletehey i have a question i talk to someone in the finaial aid office and they told me that my loans was in and everything but they was waiting on me to do my MPN so as of friday i sign it. my account say 0.00 will my refund be delayed or will i get it friday.
ReplyDeleteI had receive a letter from the loan that the money was given to the school September 7 but until now my loan didn't show up. Only my lottery money,I'm worried :( is my loan rejected?
ReplyDeleteOn my financial aid award letter it shows my Pell Grant and Life Scholarship but my Laurel Scholarship isn't there. I already went to the office a few weeks ago and asked them about it and they said they'd fix it. It still hasn't been fixed. What should I do?
ReplyDeleteI had money posted from my pell grant and then later I checked and my loan money was listed, but the amount from the pell grant disappeared. Now I have nothing showing but a total amount of refunds. I have completed the MPN, Counseling, and checked with the federal student loans who show that my money was suppose to be disbursed to me on 9/7/10, and I realize the school has to receive the money and then the money is disbursed. So how do I know what my refund is?
ReplyDeleteI am a new student at Greenville Tech. I received an award letter stating I am eligible to receive SC Education Lottery $ and Pell Grant funds. I already paid for tuition and books with a credit card. Will I automatically receive a check or do I need to come to the office? I also qualify for two types of student loans. Is one better than the other? It is my understanding that SC Education Lottery and Pell Grant funds will take care of approximately 2/3 of my cost. Is there a reason to apply for two loans in this case? Thanks for your help!
ReplyDeleteI am looking under my account summary on campus cruiser. It shows refunds as a huge amount which I believe is the total I have received since I have been a student. How do I know what I am receiving THIS semester and that this semester's refund has been added to my account? Please help.
ReplyDeleteok my account says i owe 170.00 but i had wayyy over enough money to pay for my stuff so what does that mean? like is everything still be processed or what
ReplyDeleteMy account was credited on the 8th, should I expect my refund on the first disbursement on the 17th?
ReplyDeleteI'm concerned, only 1/2 of my Pell grant has applied to may account and none of my loan. Do I need to sign another acceptance letter? I received my loan approval letter about a week ago so that should be in order. I'm getting a little nervous.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering, if I signed up for direct deposit and did all of my paperwork months ago, should my funds be deposited into my bank account on the 17th? Also, thanks for this blog, it's really awesome and has a lot of good info in it!
ReplyDeleteI had a quick question.....if i signed up for direct deposit and did all of my paperwork a few months ago, should i receive my direct deposit on the 17th? Also, thanks for doing this blog, its been very helpful :)
ReplyDeleteGood Morning everyone,
ReplyDeleteAs you can see, there are alot (66!!) of comments and questions on the blog as of this morning. Almost all of these comments have to do with refund checks, and financial aid being completed. I want to give another quick overview that hopefully will answer most of your questions. Unfortunately, I cannot get into specific accounts here on the blog for privacy reasons. With that in mind, if this does not answer your questions, please contact me at donald.wetzel@gvltec.edu and I will answer your specific questions.
Here goes:
When your financial aid is completed you receive an award letter. On that award letter, your financial aid is detailed. If you received grants or scholarships (Lottery, Pell...etc) you do not need to turn that award letter back in. If there are loans on your award letter, there are additional steps that you must take. You will need to go to studentloans.gov and complete a session on Entrance Loan Counseling and a Master Promissory Note. Once these two steps are completed your loan will be put in line to be certified, this process can take up to 4 weeks to be completed.
Once all of your money is disbursed (loan funds, grants, and/or scholarships) the money is sent to the Business Office and your account is credited. If there are enough funds to pay off your balance, then a refund is created. Our Business Office takes 10 business days to create a refund check.
The first batch of refund checks are scheduled to go out this Friday September 17th. If you have questions about the specific amounts and availability of your refund, please contact our Business office at 250-8638.
If you signed up for Direct Deposit your refund will be sent to your bank on Friday and it should post to your account according to your individual bank's policies. If you did not sign up for Direct Deposit, your refund will simply be mailed out.
I hope this answers many of your questions. If it does not, again, please e-mail me at donald.wetzel@gvltec.edu
Thanks!
thank you so much for your help, you just dont know how much this helps students, because it seems like when you call FA they never want to answer but things like this make information more readily available, THANK YOU!!
ReplyDeleteIs the amount next to "refunds" under the Account Summary section in WebAdvisor what a person should expect to receive?
ReplyDeleteWhen will the test post of 0.00 be sent to our banks?
ReplyDeleteWHERE DO YOU FIND THE PROCESS COMPLETE?
ReplyDeleteLast semester I recieved an email stating when a deposit will be made. Will emails go out again this semester.
ReplyDeleteHello, I was just woundering? My award letter that I received a few months back, said I would be awarded a pell and SC Lottery. I just received a email saying that the remaining balance of my pell would be in my account in 2-3 days. When and how do students receive their lottery? Thanks
ReplyDeleteWhen does the next batch of refunds go out? It appears that mine has not been processed, it is still showing up in my account as a refund.
ReplyDeleteYour repsonse on 9/14 states that the 'first batch' of refunds will go out today. If I have a refund noted on my account, should I get it today (direct deposit) or are you spreading the refunds out over a period of days (weeks)?
ReplyDeleteI thought if you were a student and already have loans with Federal Stafford Loan and your MPN was already signed, that you did not have to sign a Direct Loan MPN to get your loans. Well not true you still have to sign a MPN for Direct Loan! I called both places and they said yes you do sign different loan MPN. The reason is I did not get my Direct Loans, even though I got a letter from Direct Loan stating my loans are ready,So now I have got to go and sit for hours to get it straighten OUT! After I repeatedly went to the Financial Office and ask was everything in order for my loans.
ReplyDeleteMy account hasn't been updated and I have checked back to see if my direct loans are not showing. All I see is summer of 2009 term. I don't understand. I did everything to signing my award letter to signining my promisary note. Is there something wrong with system or should I make an appearance to financial aid office and the business office?
ReplyDeleteAnd, by "first batch" you mean that some of us are getting only some of our expected refund monies until the loans and other monies flow in? This check that I got is not for the right amount at all, if we're talking in total amounts, Sir. I don't remember getting a series of checks before, just one. I get the feeling I'm not the only one with this question. All the voice mailboxes are full for anyone who might be able to answer me!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Everyone,
ReplyDeleteThe first batch of refund checks were sent out this past Friday. Many of you got your checks and many of you did not for various reasons. Here are some of the top reasons for not getting your financial aid refund check (if you should have one):
1). Your financial aid file is not completed. If you have not yet received an award letter, then your file is not complete. If you were selected for verification and you have turned in all of your documents, the process takes 4-6 weeks. if you have not turned in all of the requested documents, please contact our office to do so.
2). You have accepted student loans but have not completed Entrance Loan Counseling OR a Master Promissory Note (MPN). Both of these steps will prevent your loan funds from coming through. please visit http://studentloans.gov to complete both of these steps.
If you still have additional questions, please feel free to leave a comment here on the blog or as always you can contact me at donald.wetzel@gvltec.edu !
I think this blog is great because you find information you wouldn't otherwise found out by visiting our fiancial aid office. I have visited them three times and asked if any further information or paperwork was needed to process my aid and each time was told no. Then less than half of my refund check came and I find through this block to make sure my MPN was signed??? Yes, it's my responsibility as a student to make sure it's sign but the financial aid offers are there to assist us and guide us in the right direction and I feel that wasn't done. So, this blog has definitely benefited me.
