Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant

If you have a Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) between 0-200, you may be eligible for the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG). This grant is a federal need based grant, similar to the Pell Grant.

If you have received your 2010-2011 Award Letter and were not awarded FSEOG, please e-mail Tonya Davis to be added to the waiting list. Tonya can be reached at:

Tonya.Davis@Gvltec.edu

If you are eligible, this is an excellent grant opportunity that you should take advantage of!

  1. Regarding FA Award letters for 2010-2011 school year, when are those being mailed out? It is July 2nd and I have not received one, nor have I received the confirmation e-mail via Campus Cruiser that typically accompanies the mailing of the letter. I was told via e-mail from the FA dept. several months ago, after completing the verification process for the second time since beginning Tech in 2008, that my finanical aid application for this coming year was complete, and I have recently taken the required steps regarding the Direct Loan conversion. I'm getting a bit concerned since the Fall semester starts not too far from now, and I usually have my letter by this time.

  5. I know this is unrelated, but I have always enjoyed and found a lot of helpful information in this blog. I was just wondering if since nothing has been posted in a couple of months, if you were doing away with the blog. I do hope not it a helpful tool. Thank you very much.

  7. Wasnt sure under which section to ask this so I decided to post it under the post recent article. Am I correct in assuming that financial aid refunds will run along the same time line as last fall? I am just trying to plan ahead. It was on the 18th last year and on the new lender site, it states that funds on my acct.would be released to the school on the 7th... I know there is a 10 day waiting period in order to verify funds. So, I was figuring it should be coming up soon. I just wanted to check with you on that. Thanks so much!

  8. I received this grant on my financial aid package. If I did not use this grant, does it work like the pell grant? Do I get a refund on any unused portion of the FSEOG?

  9. Your FSEOG grant does work similar to the Pell Grant. If you do not use the entire portion of tuition and fees or books, you will be refunded the unused portion.

    Thank you for your comment.

  10. There is no additional certification form for the FSEOG grant. If it is showing on your award letter, then you have accepted it.

    Thank you for your comment!
