Sign up for Direct Deposit!!

The Greenville Tech Business Office has just unveiled their new direct deposit system. Our direct deposit system will work just like any other direct deposit system that you may have in place at your job. The main goal of this new system is to streamline the financial aid refund check process.

Hundreds of students receive financial aid refund checks every semester, and up until now, all of those checks have been printed on paper, and then mailed to those students. This new system will allow student's refund checks to be directly deposited into their bank accounts once the refunds are processed through the Business Office. This will eliminate any checks being lost in the mail and will also decrease the time that it takes for students to receive their financial aid refunds.

We feel that this new system will allow us to provide even better customer service through a decreased wait time in our lobby from students waiting for refund checks. It is our goal to continuously improve our processes and we feel that the new direct deposit system will be a great improvement to our financial aid refund process.

So, hopefully I have convinced you that you should take part in this exciting new opportunity, the next question is: “How do I sign up for direct deposit?” Easy! Simply log onto Campus Cruiser, then click on the Web Advisor tab at the top of your screen. Scroll down to the Financial Aid section on the left hand column and then click on “FA Refund Direct Deposit”. This will bring up a screen that will prompt you to input your bank account numbers and routing numbers and other information. Once this has been submitted, you should receive a confirmation, and everything is set up! Now you can sit back and relax, because your financial aid refund will come directly to your bank account once it has been processed.

As always, if you have any questions about this new direct deposit system or any other financial aid topics, please contact us at financialaid@gvltec.edu or for immediate assistance, 864-250-8128. Thank you!

  4. Hi Leeann,

if you initially declined your federal Stafford loan, you can simply come into our office and submit a loan request form. We will use this to process your loan.

    Thank you for your question!

  5. Hi Courtney,

In order for us to award the LIFE scholarship for second year student we have to wait until grades are posted for the Summer 2009 semester which will happen on August 10th. If it appears that you will be eligible we will go ahead and place a hold on your classes for you so you will not be dropped. I would recommend coming into our office to have an officer verify that your classes will not be purged.

    Thank you for your question!

  6. I wonder why you haven't answered my question.

Since I don't have enough money to buy all my text books, I want to drop one of my classes. I am concerned though because I do not know that if I go from 12 credits to 9 credits if the amount of my financial aid will change. I am concerned about this because if I drop the class and my Financial Aid changes, I might *still* not have enough money to cover my books.

I see that you've answered some other comments, but I am really a bit perplexed as to why you have not answered mine.

  7. Hi Dr. L.B. Paint,

In reference to your previous question...it actually was answered on the thread where you left your comment "How this blog works". here is a copy of my response that hopefully should answer your question. Thank you!

    GTC Financial Aid said...
    Hi Dr. L.B. Paint,

The Pell grant does award based on how many credit hours you are taking. So, if you reduce your credit hours from 12 to 9 , we would reduce the amount of your Pell award. If you look at it from a percentage standpoint, you will receive the same percentage of money for your textbooks whether you take 6, 9, or 12 credit hours.

    Thank you for your question!

  8. If I don't use all of the amount allowed for books and supplies @the book store through financial Aid. Do I lose that money? (Pell Grant)

    ReplyDelete
  9. If you are awarded a Pell grant award over the cost of tuition, fees, books, and supplies, that money will be mailed to you in the form of a refund check (or direct deposit).

    Thank you for your question!

  10. When do we receive our financial aid refunds?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Will the refunds be mailed by October 1st?

  12. Hi:

I was also wondering when our financial aid will be depoisted into our accounts. After that happens, how long does it take to receive a refund check?

    Thanks!

  13. I am receiving a Pell Grant and loans. I am part-time taking 6 credit hours, but one of my classes doesn't start until Oct. (on-line), will that hold up me getting my refund? How long will it be before we receive our refunds? I signed my preliminary and turned it in the second about 3.5 weeks ago.

  14. Do the loan amounts changed after I signed the first award letter?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Refunds should begin to be mailed out on September 18th. Our Business Office send refunds out every Friday after that date. So if your financial aid has been processed, you should receive a refund check by October 1st.

    Thank you for your comment!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Loan amounts can possibly change when your loan is certified. This is based on a variety of factors. You will receive an "Official" copy of your award letter once your loans are certified that will have the actual amounts you have been awarded. The loan amounts will not change once you receive your official award letter.

    Thank you for your comment!

  17. I was wondering if refunds are going to be mailed out beginning the 18th of Sept. When will direct deposits refunds be deposited into accounts. I thought students who choose direct deposit would get refunds sooner.

    Thanks for your response

    ReplyDelete
  18. By signing up for direct deposit you will avoid our Business Office having to print and mail paper refund checks. This should save you a few days. So you should receive your direct deposit on September 18th, whereas students who receive paper checks will receive the paper checks a few days after that due to a printing and mailing time.

    Thank you for your comment.

  19. I was looking at my account on campus cruiser and it still says I owe for my tuition and my award letter says the disbursement date for my loan is 9-08-09. Should these funds not already be applied to my account?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Sweet free money...thank you pell grant!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Is direct deposit a one time sign up or do we have to sign up for it every semester?

    ReplyDelete
  22. If your loans have not been certified then the money will not have come from the lender yet. Also, we are transferring loan funds to student's accounts today, so hopefully your loan funds will be in that batch.

    Thank you for your comment.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Once you sign up for direct deposit once, we will use that routing process every semester.

    Thank you for your comment!

  24. My financial aid has been processed and is sitting in my account. Will my refund be held until September 18?

    ReplyDelete
  25. The process that our Business office has in place to process refunds does take around 10 business days. So your money is technically not being "held" it is being verified as eligible for a refund and then being processed as a refund check or direct deposit to your bank account.

    Thank you for your comment!

  26. My Pell Grant has been posted to my account, but my student loans have not. Is this something I should worry about? Do they post at different times?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hi Michele,

We are currently working on getting loan funds transferred to student accounts. One of our lenders had a delay in sending the funds to us. As long as your loans have been certified, the money should be in your account by tomorrow.

    thank you for your comment!

  28. Just wanted to thank you for this blog. I have had many questions answered both by my posting the question and also by someone else having the same question. It saves us all from having to come to the office when all we have is a simple question.

    ReplyDelete
  29. What do you mean when you say the loans have to be certified? If we have received an official award letter does that mean we have already been certified? My account is still not showing my student loan but my Pell Grant has been posted. I have accepted all of my awards, and have my award letter. Why isn't my student loans showing?

    ReplyDelete
  30. How do I know if my loan money is certified? My lottery money has been applied to my tuition but my loan still hasn't. A recent blog answer said that money would be put in my account today.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I agree with the previous comment, this blog has been a great help!

  32. Two questions. 1) I ordered my books online through the bookstore two weeks ago and they told me they did not receive my order. Now financial aid is over and my bookstore fincancial aid has been applied to my refund. Is there anyway to use financial aid for my books or will i have to purchase them myself. (my classes start 9/22 and 10/12)
2)Since I have two different start dates for my classes when should I look for my refund direct deposit?

Thank you in advance and kudos on the blog it is very helpful!

    ReplyDelete
  33. If you have received an "official" copy f your award letter then yes, your loan has been certified. This simply means we have verified the amounts you are eligible for and sent your request to your lender. they then send the funds back to us. There was a delay last week with one of our lenders however, all of those loan funds should now be here.

    Thank you for your comment!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Once your loan has been certified you will receive an "official" copy of your award letter as well as a disbursement schedule from your lender. On that disbursement schedule you will be able to see when your loan is set to be released back to the school from the lender. Once the loan funds reach the school we are able to transfer them to student accounts.

    Thank you for your comment!

  35. Thank you for the kind words.

If your refund has already been processed, then intend to have those out beginning September 18th. So you should receive your refund check in time to buy your textbooks for your classes.

If your refund has not been processed we can still issue a book voucher here in the financial aid office on an individual basis for student's whose classes have not started yet.

    Thank you for your comment!

    ReplyDelete
  36. My loan still hasn't been applied. I didn't turn in my signed letter until the week before school started. Do you have any idea when it would be applied?

    ReplyDelete
  37. It takes approximately 4-6 weeks to certify a Stafford loan once you turn in your signed award letter. So it may be a few more weeks.

    Thank you for your comment!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Thank you for your prompt response. Have a great day!

  39. My refund has been applied to my account and is visible on Campus Cruiser but the funds have not been deposited into my account should I be worried? When should I look for the money to be in my bank account?

    ReplyDelete
  40. I was wondering if by going to campus cruiser on financial award by term will tell me what my availiable financial aid is. If it has accepted by it, does that mean this is the financial aid I have avaialable? Also, I should know how much refund I will get back if I just substract my tuition from the awarded amount.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Our Business Office has up to 10 business days to disburse refunds once the money is in student accounts. I know that they are working hard to have the first refund checks go out this friday on September 18th.

    Thank you for your comment!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Your Campus Cruiser account summary does give you an estimate of your financial aid by term. There should be either a positive or negative number at the bottom of the statement in the "account balance" line. If this number is positive you will still owe the college that amount, if it is negative, then that is the amount of your refund.

    Thank you for your comment!

    ReplyDelete
  43. My account is still showing a balance due; however, I know I have financial aid to cover this but it's not showing yet. I understand the money should begin to be disbursed on September 18, but shouldn't it at least be showing up on my account? I've even received the paperwork from the student loan company that I went with.

  44. Quick question about direct deposit...

If I were to register for direct deposit today, when would the funds be sent to my banking institution? Would it be best for me just to wait for the check at this point?

    Thanks for any advice.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Thank you so much for this blog. I just signed up for direct deposit and it took less than a minute!

    Thanks again.

    ReplyDelete
  46. How often will checks go out or direct deposited? Just once a week or could they be direct deposited at any time during the week. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I signed up for financial aid direct deposit and as of yesterday I noticed that there was a deposit from Greenville Tech on my bank account but it is for 0 dollars. I was wondering if this is a mistake and if I will still get my refund deposited. I've tried to call the business office but haven't gotten an answer.

    ReplyDelete
  48. If your refund has already been created, then it would be best to wait until after you receive your refund to initiate the direct deposit. Then any future refunds will be mailed through your direct deposit link.

    Thank you for your comment!

    ReplyDelete
  49. The plan right now is for direct deposit and paper check refunds to be created once a week on Friday beginning this Friday.

    Thank you for your comment

  50. Regarding a deposit for $0. I would definitely contact our business office at 864-250-8638. They should be able to track down any deposits. I do know that no refund have been sent out yet, so it may have just been a test run. Please contact our business office to confirm this.

  52. on my account summary my balance is $0 but i know i will be receiving a refund from student loans... is this just a glitch or should i call the business office?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Once you have turned in your award letter and completed your entrance loan counseling and master promissory note it takes approximately 4-6 weeks for loan certification. Unfortunately, there really is no way to circumvent the normal processing time.

    Thank you for your comment!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Per a conversation with our business office yesterday, if your account summary on Campus Cruiser shows $0, that means that your refund has been processed. So you should receive your refund this Friday on 9/18/09.

    Thank you for your comment!

  64. Your refund should be either direct deposited or mailed out today!

    Thank you for your comment!

    ReplyDelete
  65. All of the information that we have concerning Direct Deposit is coming from our Business Office as they are the ones who actually handle the deposits. With that said, they should have deposited the money either last night or today. You may want to check with your bank to confirm the deposit and see how long it will take for your bank to give you access to those funds.

    Thank you for your comment!

    ReplyDelete
  66. My bank doesnt have record of a direct deposit pending and my campus cruiser says $0 as you mentioned in a previous post. How can i get info on my refund?

    ReplyDelete
  67. If your refund still has not deposited as of today, please contact our office at 864-250-8128 to check on the status of your refund.

    Thank you for your comment!

    ReplyDelete
  68. I called the number you gave but the person was not of much help. I don't understand wht she meant by my money would be moved over sometime this week. The lender sent me a letter and said the funds were availble on the 13th so why hasn't the money moved over?

    ReplyDelete
  69. I believe what she meant was that we have received a response from your lender with the loan funds. Once we receive this response we have to actually send those funds to our business office where they will credit your account and then create your refund. We have a automatic process that runs every evening to transfer these funds to student accounts. So if we received a response today, then the money should reflect in your account by tomorrow.

I hope this answers your question!

    ReplyDelete

  72. This blog was an excellent idea I have had numerous questions answered. I was wondering if there is a way to see what was applied to my account, on my award letter i had 450 in lottery money, a 1250 need based grant, and 1000 in student loans, however i dont think this is what got applied, what of this could be adjusted?

    ReplyDelete
  73. Thank you for the kind words about this blog. I am very glad that you have found it useful. Based on your lottery amounts, I am assuming that you are only taking 6 credit hours. Your student loan amounts will remain the same, but your SC Need based Grant will reduce down to $625 based on your half time enrollment. You should be able to access your account summary under your webadvisor to get an up to date listing of your account.

    Thank you for your comment!

  83. The disbursement date for the Summer 2010 semester is 6/7/10. That is when we receive the funds from the lender and transfer all financial aid to student accounts. The Business office has 10 business days to process refunds. So, the first Summer 2010 direct deposits should go out around June 18th.
